Busaba

The Lower Parel outpost of the South-East Asian restaurant will serve a buffet, priced at Rs4,000 per person (inclusive of alcohol). The menu includes chicken momos; avocado and roasted bell peppers sushi; khow suey; crab in red curry paste; beef bulgogi; Vietnamese sizzling fish with tamarind and coconut; chicken satay; banoffee pie; lemon tart and chocolate fondant.

Cafe by the Beach

This new beach-side cafe is bringing in the new year with a special dinner menu of crabmeat and lemongrass ravioli, seabass, khowsuey, chocolate and Thai chilli cheesecake among other things. Opt for a boat ride around the bay, or sit back and enjoy the last sunset of the year. The dinner is priced at Rs1,500 per head.

Grand Hyatt

The buffet at the hotel’s pan-Asian restaurant Fifty-Five East is priced at Rs3,500 per person (exclusive of tax but inclusive of alcohol). The hotel’s Chinese restaurant China House, and Italian restaurant Celini will each serve set menus priced at Rs3,500 per person (exclusive of tax but inclusive of alcohol).

Hakkasan

The fine-dining Chinese restaurant will serve a set menu priced at Rs5,555 per person (exclusive of tax but inclusive of select alcohol). The dishes include curried white fungus and enoki dumplings; steamed sweet and sour dim sum; Sanpei mushroom clay pot; and mock duck with okra and tofu in Assam sauce.

InterContinental Marine Drive

The hotel’s Thai restaurant Koh will serve a four-course set menu priced at Rs6,000 per person, inclusive of alcohol. Celebrity Thai chef Ian Kittichai has created a special New Year’s Eve menu, which includes Vietnamese basa with tom yum sauce; Bangkok-style chicken satay; lemon grass tiger shrimp; wok-tossed winter vegetables; and Thai ra misu (mascarpone with Thai tea biscuits and cocoa dust). The hotel’s Italian restaurant, Corleone, and Indian restaurant, Kebab Corner, will both host mixed Continental and Indian buffets priced at Rs4,950 per person with alcohol, and at Rs4,000 per person, without alcohol.

J. W. Marriott

The buffets at the all-day restaurant Lotus Café, and Indian restaurant Saffron are each priced at Rs4,500 per person (inclusive of alcohol). The set menu at the Italian restaurant Mezzo Mezzo and the buffet at the Oriental restaurant Spices are priced at Rs4,000 per person, inclusive of alcohol and a complimentary glass of champagne at midnight.

Chef Marco Priolo’s set menu at the hotel’s Italian restaurant Stella is priced at Rs6,000 per person (exclusive of tax but inclusive of select alcohol).
 The set menus at the Indian restaurant Jamavar, and at the Chinese restaurant The Great Wall are each priced at Rs5,000 per person (exclusive of tax but inclusive of select alcohol).

Shiro

On New Year’s Eve, the entrance to the South-East Asian restaurant, which serves Thai, Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese fare, is priced at Rs6,000 per person and at Rs10,000 per couple. The price gets you unlimited servings of premium alcohol brands, and entitles you to order anything off the a la carte menu.

Svenska Design Hotel

You can choose between four “party zones”: the lounge bar, the mult-cuisine bistro, an al fresco area, and the hotel’s Mediterranean fine-dining restaurant, Miro. Tickets are priced at Rs2,999 per head, and Rs4,999 per couple.

Two One Two Bar & Grill
12-A, Hornby Vellard Estate, opposite Nehru Centre, next to the BMW showroom, Worli. Tel: 2490 1994.
The Italian fine-dining restaurant will cordon off sections of the establishment for groups of 40 to 50 people, and will serve up a special booze and food menu (tenderloin sliders, an oyster bar, pizzas and shawarmas) to those groups. For pricing and reservations, call the restaurant.

Yauatcha

The dim sum restaurant and tea house will serve a four-course set menu comprising soup, dim sum, main course and dessert. You can choose from enoki dumplings; baked chicken puff; seafood roll; mango and strawberry mousse; hand-made chocolate truffles; and macaroons. The set menu is priced at Rs2,888 per person (exclusive of tax and alcohol).

Blue Frog

Popular retro pop and rock band Victor and The Crowns, fronted by dentist Victor Rodrigues, will help you move into the future by playing the hits of the past at the Lower Parel club, where the entrance fee is priced at Rs4,500 per person and Rs8,000 per couple, and a table/pod reservation is priced at Rs6,500 per person. The entrance fee gets you unlimited alcohol and a buffet that will include seafood and cold-cut counters, and salad and dessert bars in addition to main courses.

Bonobo

The Bandra bar and lounge will serve unlimited vegetarian and non-vegetarian starters including balsamic mushrooms, cottage cheese and Bocconcini skewers; crispy calamari; lemon pepper shrimp; lamb seekh kebab; and basil pesto crostini. The evening will also feature commercial house courtesy of DJs RayG and Adi. The entrance fee is priced at Rs4,000 per person and Rs6,000 per couple (inclusive of tax and alcohol).

The city’s only “all metal New Year party” will feature concert screenings, drinking games, and unlimited food and alcohol. Music videos of metal bands across all sub-genres (everyone from Black Sabbath to Megadeth and Porcupine Tree) will be shown at the event, which begins at 9pm and is priced at Rs1,000 per person. The Lower Parel restaurant and bar is offering a special menu—including assorted vegetarian and non-vegetarian pizzas, quiches and sushi platters, spinach and corn filo parcel with sundried mayo, rawas tikka with mint chutney, Cajun chicken fingers with burnt garlic mayo—and two alcohol packages. The Diamond package, priced at Rs6,000, comprises Chivas Regal and Jack Daniel’s whisky, Grey Goose vodka, Glenlivet single malt, Sauza tequila, Jacobs wine, Beefeater gin, Heineken beer, and soft beverages; while the Gold package, priced at Rs4,000, comprises Ballantine whisky, Absolut vodka, Sauza tequila, Four Seasons wine, Blue Riband gin, Kingfisher beer and soft beverages. If you can’t make it to Goa, where the rest of Mumbai appears to be partying this year, head to Hawaiian Shack for a slice of an island soiree. While there is no beach at this “Hawaiian theme party” there will be plenty of beach cocktails, garlands and floral shirts. The music will span from hip hop to retro to pop. There is a cover charge of Rs4,000 per couple and at Rs2,000 per girl.

The Comedy Store

Stand-up comedians Anuvab Pal, Kunal Rao, Rajneesh Kapoor and Aditi Mittal will take turns to ensure that you spend the last few hours of 2011 doubling-up in laughter. The event, from 9pm to 11.55pm, is priced at Rs2,000 per person, which gets you the same food menu and Gold alcohol package served at Canvas.

China House

The cover charge at the lounge’s NYE party is priced at Rs8,000 per couple, Rs8,000 for a single man and Rs4,000 for a single woman. Resident DJ Amit Makwana will spin commercial house tracks at the event, a table for which comes with a minimum spend of Rs75,000.

Dome

“Austin Powers” and the 1960s make up the theme for the New Year’s Eve bash at the InterContinental Marine Drive’s rooftop bar. The Rs10,000 price gets you entertainment in the form of a performance by saxophone and flute player Jarrod “Woody” Wood, and a playlist of retro hits by DJ Eman; a bar serving premium alcohol and cocktails such as Mini Me shots and Dr. Evil’s Drink; and a buffet spread that includes a range of grilled meats and kebabs.

Enigma

Hard Rock Cafe
