Best Cities. According to an opinion poll conducted by the Times of India, Ahmedabad is the best city to live in, followed by Pune. Mumbai ranked third and Kolkata was ranked last in the poll, which ranked eight of India’s mega cities (with a population of over 5 million) on 30 parameters such as infrastructure, environment, social and cultural values, “peace of mind”, leisure facilities, weather and open spaces. • Anti-Corruption Flash Mob. Just as anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare began a day-long fast at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to protest the Parliamentary Standing Committee’s report on the Lokpal bill, over a 100 of his supporters staged a flash mob at Shivaji Park on Sunday. The group danced to “Chale Chalo” from the 2001 film Lagaan at a car and bike rally organised by India Against Corruption, which drew over 1,500 people from across Mumbai. [Mumbai Mirror]

• RIP Mario Miranda. Cartoonist Mario Miranda, who was renowned for his distinct drawing style and his vivid illustrations of the life and people of Goa, passed away in his sleep at his ancestral home in Loutolim on Sunday. Miranda, whose drawings can be seen at Cafe Mondegar in Mumbai, was 85 years old. [The Times of India]

  1. Ahemdabad is a best city to live in because ‘Uninterrupted and stable power supply’ given to the city by a private service provider, “Torrent Power”; ‘No shortage of water’, thanks to the Narmada project;
    ‘wide and maintained roads’; very ‘friendly & traditional, yet progressive people’; a ‘fairly (relatively) responsive municipal corporation’; ‘good educational and health facilities’; plenty to do & see for people of all ages; the gujju love for food and music, etc.
