Fro Yo To Launch In Bandra
While enrolled in a two-year MBA course in San Francisco, Karan Bahl survived on a diet of frozen yoghurt and memories of his hometown Mumbai. He returned to the city last year, with an idea to launch his own frozen yoghurt shop, fashioned after the Pinkberry chain of stores in America. Bahl’s first store, Fro Yo, is slated to open before the week ends. The 200 sq. ft. store, off Waterfield Road in Bandra, can seat about nine people and will serve frozen yoghurt, smoothies and tea and coffee. Bahl intends to offer seasonal flavours, starting with strawberry and blueberry this month. At Fro Yo, as is also the case at Cocoberry (Bandra’s first frozen yoghurt store, which opened at Pali Naka in 2009), you can choose to add a selection of toppings such as dry fruit, fresh fruits, chocolate and sprinkles to your frozen yoghurt. Bahl, who is importing fruit essences from America, has also worked on an innovative menu of smoothies, with mixed flavours like banana, orange and honey (a breakfast smoothie), watermelon with pomegranate seeds and Sprite, and Fro Yo’s speciality, the Frojito, which is a non-alcoholic mojito topped with strawberry flavoured frozen yoghurt. The yoghurt cups come in three sizes—mini, big and grand. A frozen yoghurt without toppings is priced at Rs55; smoothies start at Rs75. The tea menu will include Kashmiri kahwa, green tea, mint and lemon tea.
Fro Yo is slated to open on Thursday, December 30.
