See Mario Miranda’s Travel Cartoons At Aks Gallery

There are few people in this city who would not recognise Mario Miranda’s button-nosed, pot-bellied and ample-bosomed characters, most famously painted on the walls of Café Mondegar in Colaba. Less well known are his travel cartoons from France, England, Germany and Portugal which will be on display at Aks Gallery in Andheri as part of “Mario’s World”, an exhibition of 100 works, including his newspaper panels featuring beloved staples like Miss Fonseca. The cartoons are priced at Rs40,000 and above. If you have a more modest budget, you can pick up postcards, prints, mugs and tiles plastered with his colourful drawings, starting at just Rs15.
