Karsh Kale Reprises Coke Studio Tracks At Blue Frog

If you didn’t catch the much-touted episode of MTV’s Coke Studio featuring Karsh Kale and his illustrious musician friends referred to as the Karsh Kale Collective, in August, head to Blue Frog on Friday, October 5, for a live rendition of the episode from the second season of the show. Kale and his all-star band, which is made up of guitarist Warren Mendonsa, bassist Johan Pais, drummer Jai Row Kai, flautist Ajay Prasanna, DJ Jayant, and vocalists Shilpa Rao, Monali Thakur and Brooklyn Shanti, will perform the six Coke Studio tracks including Kale’s interpretation of the Umrao Jaan classic “Dil Cheez”, and Leonard Cohen’s haunting and widely covered “Hallelujah”. The evening is likely to see Kale in a celebratory mood owing to his recent win at the Global Indian Music Academy awards. Kale’s fifth studio album Cinema bagged the award for Best Fusion Album.
