Pick Between Papon and Sky Rabbit Tonight

Folk-fusion singer Papon and electro-pop band Sky Rabbit may not seem like they have much in common but they’ve shared space at least in print on more than one occasion this year. They both launched albums with concerts at Blue Frog in January, and last month those releases were nominated in the non-film segment of the upcoming Global Indian Music Awards—while Papon’s The Story So Far is up for Best Pop Album, Sky Rabbit’s eponymous CD has got a Best Rock Album nod. Most recently, they were both part of shows on MTV; Papon appeared on an episode of the second season of Coke Studio, while Sky Rabbit’s “Beep Off” has been used as the title track of the channel’s new fiction series Bring On The Night. This month, like in January, they are both on Blue Frog’s roster. Papon performs at the Lower Parel club this Wednesday, September 26, three weeks after Sky Rabbit took the venue’s stage. In case you missed that gig, you have the tough choice of choosing between the two acts—Sky Rabbit is also playing a show tonight, at Bonobo as part of the Bandra restaurant and bar’s “mid-week jam” series of events.
