Which Gig Will You Go For Tonight?

Thermal and a Quarter.
You know the concert season is in full swing when there are four gigs to choose from on a weekday. At Blue Frog (10pm), Sax On Toast, the pun-loving group fronted by saxophonist Rhys D’Souza (who you may have seen at a show accompanying his mum, keyboardist-composer Merlin D’Souza), will perform. The band, which features Tala Faral on keys, Vinay Lobo on electric guitar, J. D. Thirumalai on bass, and Aditya Ashok on drums, will play a mix of modern jazz tunes by the likes of Candy Dulfer and Us3. You can catch two Blue Frog favourites, singer-songwriter Siddharth Basrur and alternative rock act Slow Down Clown at Bonobo (10pm), at the second edition of the Bandra bar’s “Mid-Week Jam”. (Watch Slow Down Clown’s recently-released Bandra-centric video here.)
Over at Hard Rock Cafe (8.30pm), Bangalore’s Thermal and a Quarter offers fans the rare chance of seeing them perform in our city twice in the span of two months. The gig is part of the launch tour for their fifth album 3 Wheels, Nine Lives so you can expect to hear a number of new tracks during their set. At the opposite end of the indie spectrum, popular house music DJ Pearl will take over the decks at Royalty (9pm) for this week edition’s of their Smirnoff Next series of events.
