Watch ‘Vertical City’ at Liberty Cinema

September 11, 2012 7:54 am by

If you missed Avijit Mukul Kishore’s acclaimed documentary Vertical City when it was shown by the Alliance Française in August 2011, then make your way to Liberty Cinema this Tuesday, September 11, when the cultural organisation will screen the short film as part of its ongoing “Heritage Days” series of events, which includes walking tours and exhibitions. Vertical City takes viewers inside the squalid living conditions of people residing in one of Mumbai’s oldest slum rehabilitation projects, a housing complex in Goregaon East (see the trailer, above). Another city-centric documentary, Surabhi Sharma’s Tracing Bylanes, which looks at the changing face of Chandigarh, will also be screened. Kishore, incidentally, shot Tracing Bylanes. Entry is free but requires registration. Call 022 2203 5993 to register.
