Pet Sounds
Three of our favourite organisations join forces this Sunday, August 26—Mumbai choral group The Stop-Gaps will perform a concert to raise funds for city-based NGO the Welfare of Stray Dogs, at the National Centre for the Performing Arts. At the gig, which will be held at the NCPA’s Tata Theatre, such well-known singers in the city’s live music circuit as Ella and Shahariyar Atai, Asif Ali Beg, Suzanne D’Mello, Samantha Edwards, and Caralisa Monteiro will croon animal-themed tunes like “Memories” from the musical Cats, “Talk to the Animals” from the film Doctor Doolittle and that childhood classic “How Much Is That Doggie In The Window?”, with the ensemble. Comedian Cyrus Broacha will compere the show, which will also feature choreographer Ashley Lobo’s company DANCEWORX and the children’s choir, the Stop-Gaps Junior Choral Ensemble. The sales proceeds will help cover the costs of Welfare of Stray Dogs’ activities, which include the first-aid, sterilisation and vaccination of stray dogs, and rabies awareness and immunisation drives.
