Pretend You’re In Dubai, Visit Snow World

Worried about the measly monsoon we’ve had so far this year? Who needs rain when you’ve got snow? As a city, we often aspire to be Shanghai but we’ll always be closer to Dubai. Our temperatures may be rising to match those of the desert city but that hasn’t stopped us from making like the Emirate and getting our first snow leisure centre. Freezing Rains at Snow World, which opened over the weekend at Phoenix Market City, is Mumbai’s “first-ever snow-based theme park”. While you can’t ski here, as you can at the equally imaginatively named Ski Dubai “the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East”, you can enjoy such spine-tingling activities as driving bumper cars on ice, ice skating, snow dancing (it’s just like rain dancing), and snow sledging over the 18,000 square feet space, where you can also get “cozy in an igloo with a fire camp” though that kind of seems to defeat the whole purpose of being there. You can pick between the regular Rs400 entrance fee or the Rs500 VIP ticket. Both get you hour-long access to all the activities as well as jackets, gumboots, gloves and caps to ensure you’re able to tolerate the temperature, which is maintained at a maximum of minus 10 degrees Celsius. The difference between the two rates? Giving up a Gandhi gets you “warmer jackets”, said the public relations team.

I just visited Snow World this morning after reading a lot of good and mix comments on Snow World at Phoenix Market City, Kurla.
When we entered, I was very happy with the Ticket Counter people for explaining us in brief about the place and then we bought the tickets. Socks were purchased at extremely cheap rates (which one will never get in malls) and then were provided with freshly perfumed jackets, gloves and shoes.
We were all excited with the dresses and were all set to enter the Snow chamber. The door opened and it was like a entry to the heaven. Beautiful ambience, superb foggy climate with some snow fall, sledging, sliding, skating and a bit to play with real snow.

cheers to the ceo of the brand….
@Bandra Boy: I am born and bought up in Mumbai, but the first thing that strike you will never strike me about wearing sweaty jackets…

Simply WOW it is…!!!
They have big heater and laundry room where they heat and clean all jackets after every session.
So no one has to wear sweaty jackets…
Its a beautiful place
You know you have lived in Mumbai for a long while, when the first thing that strikes you is – you will have to wear a sweaty jacket worn by a dozen others!
both 100 and 500 notes have Gandhi on them. You mean ‘giving up an *extra* gandhi’
