Bombay High Court Defends Dhoble
Defending Dhoble. The Bombay High Court did not grant relief to the two sisters who sued Assistant Commissioner of Police Vasant Dhoble, who had arrested them on grounds of being prostitutes, during a raid on an Andheri restaurant on Tuesday, June 5. The court said that the action taken against the two sisters was “in accordance with the provisions of law”. When the sisters’ advocate argued that their detention was illegal as it was based on suspicion, the court rejected the claim, saying that “rescuing you and producing you before the magistrate is in accord with the provisions of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act”.
