Paper Leak. The Mumbai police arrested 14 people—including professors, students and lab assistants—for leaking exam papers hours before the exams were scheduled to begin at Mumbai University last month. The police said two separate groups were involved in leaking the papers, which were sold for amounts ranging from Rs300 to Rs8,000. “We sincerely apologise to all the students [for the paper leak] and assure we will take care in the future,” said Mumbai University vice-chancellor Rajan Welu-kar. Heavenly Orbit. If you missed the transit of Venus this morning as it passed in front of the sun (something that won’t occur again until 2117), then watch recorded footage here or see a gallery of images taken from people around the world here. The once-in-a-lifetime event is of great importance to scientists, who are able to get more accurate measures of the size of the solar system. [First Post]

Pay Day. A computer science graduate from IIT-Delhi has bagged a Rs70 lakh a year job with micro-blogging site Twitter only three weeks after he graduated. Twenty-two year old Swapnil Jain from Madhya Pradesh will move to California in October, joining a 1,000 other employees of the website. “The pay isn’t huge in dollar terms. Of course, it is a big amount in rupees. I certainly was not expecting this much,” he said. [Hindustan Times]
