MB Recommends: Shiv Sagar’s Cheese Palak Masala Pav

It’s buried on the third page of the menu and is not as popular as the dosas, idlis, and pav bhaji that make up the menu at Shiv Sagar, but we consider the cheese palak masala pav sold at the Juhu and Bandra outposts of the fast food chain to be one of its best offerings. The layered snack comprises two butter-soaked pavs, which are filled with a smooth, spread-like spicy spinach and onion masala that is also smeared on top of the slippery pav, but gets concealed under a generous layer of grated cheese. Shiv Sagar offers a number of variants of the masala pav, including ones without cheese and some with a tomato and onion masala in place of the palak masala, but the delicious combination of spinach and cheese further enhanced by the lavish use of butter, makes the tawa-cooked cheese palak masala pav our pick of the lot.
