Watch How Swarathma Use Art In Their Music

From their vibrant outfits on stage to the eye-catching art work on their CDs and concert posters, Bangalore-based folk-fusion rock group Swarathma has always been an act that looks as interesting as it sounds. Fans would know that this is because no less than half of the sextet has a background in art: vocalist Vasu Dixit and percussionist Pavan Kumar KJ met when they were both students at the Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts in Mysore, while drummer Montry Manuel is a self-taught graphic designer. This Wednesday, May 30, during a free masterclass organised by Rolling Stone India magazine at Bandra coffee shop Mocha Mojo, the trio will, with the aid of video clips, illustrate how they’ve used their skills as artists, designers and photographers to package and promote their music. The event, which should offer insights for artists, musicians and fans of the band, will close with a Q&A session with the audience, who can register via the Facebook page for the event or on-the-spot at the venue.
