Kolkata Knight Riders Win IPL
• Flood Warning. Assistant municipal commissioner Bhagshree Kapse, whose jurisdiction covers the localities of Lalbaug and Parel, has said that six spots in these areas including Hindmata and Jagannath Bhatankar Marg are likely to get flooded during the monsoon. While Kapse said that a four-member team will be on call 24 hours a day to deal with emergencies, she added that the spots will continue to be flood-prone for at least another year, until the construction of a pumping station near BPT Colony on Reay Road is completed. • Good Knights. The Kolkata Knight Riders beat two-time defending champions Chennai Super Kings to win their maiden IPL title at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday. A partnership between Manvinder Bisla, who scored 89 runs off 48 balls, and Jacques Kallis, who made 69 off 49 deliveries, helped steer KKR to victory as they chased CSK’s score of 190. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Chris Gayle was awarded the “orange cap” for racking up the maximum runs during the fifth edition of the tournament; the West Indian batsman tallied 773 runs in 15 matches. • Search Parties. According to search engine Google’s trend charts, which track the most searched-for keywords across the world, India ranked second only to Pakistan when it came to looking for “sex” on the Internet during the past 12 months. As far as “corruption” is concerned, India was the country with the third-highest searches for the term over the last one year. [Hindustan Times]
