Fashion Look Book: Sonam Kapoor at Cannes

Sonam Kapoor made what now appears to be a customary appearance at the Cannes film festival dressed in an array of pretty designerwear that for better or worse cemented her pole position in the “how to walk the red carpet in a country other than India” stakes. At a Gucci/Vanity Fair-hosted party, she looked perfectly respectable in a black Gucci dress, T-strap shoes, red lipstick and jadav earrings. For the closing ceremony, she chose a lacy silk Alexander McQueen number with a high neck and sheer sleeves that would have drowned a less statuesque actress, finally capping off her festival looks in head-to-toe Dolce & Gabbana, with matching red shoes, red lipstick and red nail polish, at the closing ceremony party. Though a little too matchy-matchy (we much preferred her in this similarly cut red dress by Prabal Gurung) and reminiscent of this Heidi look from last year what with the hair jewels and plaits, Kapoor, it should be said, still looks every inch a red-carpet star, able to take risks and work them, even when they fall woefully short of perfection.
