Catch A Clutch of Queer Films at Kashish

A still from 'Weekend'.
Now in its third edition, Kashish aka the Mumbai International Queer Film Festival has established itself as a fixture in the city’s cinematic calendar. A total of 120 films, including features, documentaries, shorts and animations, from 30 countries will be screened over the festival, from Thursday, May 24 to Sunday, May 27 at the Cinemax in Versova and the Alliance Française auditorium in Marine Lines. If that sheer number overwhelms you, know that the organisers have helpfully put up a list of must-watch films on the festival’s official website. Among the flicks to catch are the 2000 Goya Award-winning Spanish language movie Burnt Money from Argentina, and the widely acclaimed 2011 British film Weekend, which will close the festival. Book readings, Q&As with filmmakers, and panel discussions will be held alongside the screenings. See the schedule here. Entry is free but requires registration, which can be done on the spot at both venues on Thursday morning.
