Those Drinking Alcohol At Juhu “Rave” Could Face Jail
• Permission to Party. Even those drinking alcohol at the alleged “rave” party at Juhu’s Oakwood Premier hotel this past Sunday could face jail time, if found to be guilty of drinking without a permit. Under the provisions of the Bombay Prohibition Act, any person who consumes alcohol without a valid permit is punishable under Section 66 (1)(b) and can face imprisonment of up to six months and/or a fine of Rs 10,000. • Poachers To Pay With Life. The Maharashtra forest department has authorised guards at its four tiger reserves to shoot poachers at sight. The order follows the killing of two tigers and three leopards in the last few weeks. “Killing poachers won’t be considered a crime and no case will be registered if the forest staff catch them in the act and open fire,” said state Forest Minister Patangrao Kadam. • Shoe Scam. Reebok India has filed an FIR against its former managing director and COO alleging that they stole products, set up secret warehouses, and fudged accounts to create fictitious sales, causing the company losses amounting to Rs8,700 crore. If the allegations are found to be true, this will be the country’s biggest case of corporate fraud since Satyam’s Ramalinga Raju was accused of orchestrating a Rs14,000 crore scam.
