B69 Is Back (For A Bit At Least)

When Mumbai’s heavy metal hub shut in January, even its most faithful fans couldn’t be blamed for thinking that the city had lost another performance venue. However, true to their promise, the folks behind B69 are back with a new space, one that they are at least hoping to turn into their permanent spot.

After scouting for new locations, the proprietors decided to interpret the idea of an “underground” venue rather literally and thought of holding a gig inside the parking lot of the Jaisingh Business Centre in Andheri East, which houses the office of B69’s parent company Bajaao. The landlord granted them permission to hold a concert on a Sunday when the parking lot is empty and so this June 3, B69 will host its comeback show. The said show is the west India regional round of the WOA Metal Battle, the international band competition held by the organisers of the Wacken Open Air festival (which comes to Bangalore on Sunday, June 16.)

On the bill for the B69 gig are Zygnema, Providence and Dionysian from Mumbai, Chaoskampf from Pune and headliners Thane-based horror metal band Albatross (who will also perform at the Bangalore edition of Open Air). If all goes well (which presumably means that no cars get pummelled post-mosh), Bajaao hopes to have one concert a month at the JBC parking lot.
