A Cup Of Coffee With A Side of Discussion

If you like your coffee with a side of intense discussion, consider signing up for Pourmecoffee, a new self-described “liberal thought forum” whose aim is simply to foster a good chat. Started by college friends Mehak Chadha and Fatema Pittalwala, Pourmecoffee will hold monthly events where they will gather 30 people, and discuss topics that range from art and science to politics and media. For their first discussion on Wednesday, May 16 at Cafe Zoe, the duo has roped in Seth Petchers, the British founder of fair trade NGO Shop For Change. Though Petchers will lead the talk about fair trade practices and his experience with social entrepreneurship, Chadha says it will be less a lecture and more an informal chat of sorts with, naturally, coffee and a Q&A and networking session after. “We wanted something small, where you could have quality discussions, network and meet people from all walks of life,” she says. Pourmecoffee, run as a non-profit, will hold their meet-ups at venues across town, and say they have a “prominent businesswoman” already lined up for their next event. In the meantime, if you’d like to attend their first event, you can nab one of five spots reserved for Mumbai Boss readers by emailing us at editors@mumbaiboss.com and putting “Pourmecoffee” in the subject line. Alternatively, you can get onto Pourmecoffee’s mailing list by dropping them a line at pourmecoffee2012@gmail.com. The events are free.
