Attend A Bob Dylan Tribute At Blue Frog
If it’s May, there must be a Bob Dylan tribute. The legendary singer-songwriter celebrates his birthday on the 24th of this month, making it the best time of the year for his fans across the world to pay tribute to his genius. However, “Forever Young”, one such Dylan tribute concert that will be held at Blue Frog this Wednesday, May 9, is being pegged not to his birthday but to the release of his self-titled debut album 50 years ago. “Dylan is still relevant today; his last album [2009’s Together Through Life] topped the US and UK charts,” said Bobhead Mukul Deora who has put together the show with fellow guitarist-vocalist Pradeep Mathews of The Mavyns. The gig, though similar to an event that they performed in May 2010 at now-shuttered Bandra venue Zenzi, is likely to span a wider variety of Dylan’s work from his earlier records through to 1997’s Time Out of Mind, said Mathews whose band mate Kristofor Mendonca will be manning the drums. The band for the night will include Tara Faral on keyboards and Shirish Malhotra on saxophone. Also expect to see a couple guest spots from singers such as Indus Creed’s Uday Benegal and Slow Down Clown’s Vitek Goyal and former Something Relevant member Aazin Printer.
