Theobroma To Open On Pedder Road In May
Soon, Pedder Road residents will no longer have to trek to Colaba to get their fix of Theobroma’s butter-soaked croissants and brownies. The patisserie is slated to open in the south Mumbai neighbourhood by the third week of May. Its 450 square feet split-level shop, which is located in the same building that also houses a popular Domino’s pizza outlet, will feature a display area on the ground level and have seating for about a dozen people on the upper floor. Kainaz Messman, the chef and owner of Theobroma, told us that the new store will resemble her revamped Colaba flagship, which is now decorated in pastel green instead of the earlier dark chocolate brown.
The menu will feature breads, brownies, pastries, sandwiches and savoury pies. Sadly, unlike the Colaba and Bandra outposts, the Pedder Road branch won’t serve an all-day breakfast. The legendary chip butty has been left off the menu too. However, the sandwich selection will include new options such as smoked tenderloin; BBQ chicken; chicken salad; and chicken Chettinad. There’s good news for Andherites as well: Messman said that Theobroma is scheduled to open in Lokhandwala in the next three months.

Messman is obviously prospering. So could she please reduce the prices of her outrageously expensive sandwiches? Or justify the 180 rupees by being more generous with fillings and offering better bread?
