Roli Books’ CMYK Bookstore To Open Inside Good Earth

CMYK, New Delhi.

We’re always of the opinion that a city can never have too many bookstores, especially when said stores carry art and design books. Last year, we got the black-walled Art & Design Bookstore in Colaba, and now, Roli Books’s CMYK Bookstore will open inside Good Earth’s flagship store at Raghuvanshi Mills by the end of the month. CMYK, which already has outposts in New Delhi and Pune, is the book publisher’s in-house chain of bookstores, which, in addition to Roli’s own range, stocks luscious coffee table brands like Phaidon, Thames and Hudson, Taschen, Black Dog & Leventhal, and Skira. Roli tells us that the bookstore will be housed in the space next to the staircase, right near Le15’s patisserie counter. It will stock about 1,500 books on art, design, architecture, interiors, photography, travel and cooking. Though the Delhi and Pune stores frequently hold movie nights and book readings, those won’t be introduced here until much later. Incidentally, the Mumbai branch has been designed by Ayaz Basrai of The Busride (the firm behind Cafe Zoe, Salt Water Cafe and Smoke House Deli). While the store will resemble those in Delhi and Pune, Basrai says he has retrofitted old fridges and speakers to convert them into bookshelves and add a bit of characteristic quirk.

CMYK Bookstore is slated to open at the end of April.
