Pay Higher Auto-Rickshaw Fares From Friday
• Cheaper Loans. The Reserve Bank of India has announced a .50 percentage point cut in the repo rate or the rate at which banks borrow from it. The move, which is intended to boost the economy, is expected to lead banks to reduce the interest rates for home, auto and personal loans. [DNA]
• Tariff Hike. The revised auto-rickshaw fares will come into effect from this Friday, April 20. According to the new tariff, the minimum fare will increase from Rs11 to Rs12, and for every additional kilometre travelled, passengers will have to pay a rupee more than the existing fare. For example, if the metre reads 1.10, you will have to pay Rs13.50 instead of the current rate of Rs12.50. [Hindustan Times]
• Green God. For this year’s Ganesh festival, the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board will set up stalls at which it sell clay idols that bear an “EC” or eco-friendly stamp, in order to pre-empt vendors from passing off Plaster of Paris idols as clay idols. Between Monday, April 23 and Tuesday, May 1, stalls at Siddhivinayk Temple in Prabhadevi will provide information on how to book eco-friendly idols and how to tell a clay idol apart from others. keep it simple. There is no rickshaw teriff card.
The RTO must check all autos for correct tariff cards, One must catch the Vendors who sell these fake cards at various signals.
9 out of 10 autos have fake cards, and there are autos still running with tampered meters which usually are 20% higher

Yes, same thing happened with me also…yest while checking the auto drivers fare card i saw it was written as 30Rs for meter reading 2.3…and today while checking another drivers card i saw it was written 29Rs for meter reading 2.2! But i wasnt sure what the correct meter reading was hence couldnt argue with him….similar incidents have happened many times this week with me…
