Watch The Bad Boys Of Dance at St. Andrew’s Auditorium
Don’t let their cheesy name deter you from attending the Bad Boys of Dance’s concert at the St. Andrew’s Auditorium tonight, Tuesday, March 13. The American ensemble is likely to awe you when they perform founder and artistic director Rasta Thomas’s self-created dance style of “pop-ballet” which, based on the videos we saw online, features some rubber-limbed, gravity-defying moves. “We fuse classical ballet steps with jazz, contemporary, hip hop, acrobatics and more,” said Thomas, who counts “Bruce Lee, Michael Jackson, Mikhail Baryshnikov [and] Gene Kelly” among his influences. He decided to name his company “Bad Boys” precisely because of the radical nature of their choreographic work. “We’ll never conform to the normal,” said Thomas, who promises “a sexy, energetic performance full of technique, charisma and power” for their Mumbai show, which will close their eight-city tour of India, which has been jointly organised by the American Center and music channel Vh1.
