Eberhard Havekost at Bhau Daji Lad Museum
The disparate selection of photographs and paintings on display at German artist Eberhard Havekost’s show at the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum may appear to have no apparent connection. There are slick photos of surfers, dusty cars, leaf-covered houses, skulls on a shelf, plus digitally manipulated paintings of moving trains, and blurry shadows cast against acid pink walls. Taken as a singular reflection of urban life however, they start to reveal nuanced detail in their seemingly banal composition of texture, angle and shadow.
