Valentine’s Day Food Specials

Debailleul, the Belgian patisserie, has launched a new range of desserts for Valentine’s Day. They’re selling a dark chocolate mousse and caramelised almond dacquoise; mocha buttercream and almond buttersheets; and custom-made chocolate gift boxes. • From Friday, February 10, Neel at Tote on the Turf, the fine dining Nawabi cuisine restaurant, will serve a special Valentine’s Day menu that will highlight aphrodisiacs commonly used in the Mughal era. The menu was created in consultation with the late historian and author Sharada Dwivedi, who passed away on Monday, February 6. As per Dwivedi’s research on the topic, chef Mukhtar Qureshi has incorporated saffron, almonds, cloves, fennel, and fenugreek into the dishes. The menu will include tandoori pepper lobster; paya; palang-tod paan; wazwan chaman methi; Kashmiri rohani biryani; murgh chandi korma; rose kalakand; and Kashmiri Khan phirni. They will also offer a new range of cocktails called Belvedere love potions. These include the bloody Mary martini; the citrus cosmopolitan and the Belvedere toffee apple. Cafe Prato, the all-day restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel, will serve a five-course set dinner on Tuesday, February 14. It will include almond-crusted goat cheese with arugula; pumpkin and sage tortellini; pistachio-crusted lamb; and parmesan flan with truffle fondue. The meal for two is priced at Rs6,000 (excluding taxes). San-Qi, the hotel’s pan-Asian restaurant, will offer a special dessert platter comprising milk chocolate truffle cake; white chocolate brownie; rose and raspberry macaroon; dark chocolate tartlet; and strawberry sorbet that can be ordered during lunch and dinner on Tuesday, February 14. • Dine by candlelight at Hard Rock Cafe on Tuesday, February 14, where they will serve a special menu that includes cottage cheese stuffed tomato with rosemary vinaigrette; turkey pie; strawberry mousse; and vanilla sponge with white chocolate shavings. Olive Bar & Kitchen in Khar and Mahalaxmi will offer a bespoke Valentine meal by candlelight on Tuesday, February 14. The special menu includes lobster pot pie; baked Brie with saffron honey; cherry tomato and basil tarte tatin; and whisky hazelnut tart. • On Tuesday, February 14, Hakkasan, the fine dining Chinese restaurant in Bandra, will offer a six-course set menu for couples, priced at Rs5,888 (excluding taxes). The menu will include crisp soft shell crab with shrimp shumai; seafood broth with dry scallops; mock duck with pineapple in peanut sauce; chocolate and raspberry creme brulee; and chocolate shortbread. • Shiro, the South-East Asian restaurant and lounge, will serve a special menu on Tuesday, February 14. It will include apple, tomato and cinnamon soup; panko crusted asparagus; duck confit with ginger sauce; baked tofu steak with udon noodles; chocolate velvet cake; and dark chocolate mousse with nougat. The vegetarian meal is priced at Rs995 per person (excluding taxes) and at Rs3,500 per couple (excluding taxes but including a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine), and the non-vegetarian at Rs1,265 per person (excluding taxes) and at Rs4,000 per couple (excluding taxes but including a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine). • The Valentine’s Day dinner at Lotus Cafe, the all-day restaurant at the J.W. Marriott, will include foie gras; berries and cream; quail eggs with caviar; and jumbo asparagus. Mezzo Mezzo, the Marriott’s Italian restaurant, will also serve a special menu, featuring fried squid; Caprese salad; grilled salmon fillet; saffron risotto with lime; and paccheri pasta with shrimps. Your choices include spicy lemongrass paneer cakes; spicy chicken dumplings; laksa with vegetables; wonton noodle soup; Thai steamed basa; green Thai curry with vegetables; chocolate pot; fried cinnamon wontons with ice cream; and apple spring rolls. Yauatcha, the tea and dim sum restaurant in Bandra Kurla Complex, will serve a special menu on Tuesday, February 14. Cafe By The Beach in Chowpatty will serve a set Valentine’s Day menu on Tuesday, February 14. It includes strawberry gazpacho; strawberry Caprese salad; honey-glazed duck with orange and pumpkin mousse; and tomato risotto. Out of the Blue, the Continental restaurant in Khar, will serve a special Valentine’s Day menu on Tuesday, February 14. • Belgian bakery and cafe Le Pain Quotidien will serve a four-course set menu on Tuesday, February 14. The meal will comprise a soup or salad, a tartine, an entree and a dessert. You can choose from balsamic figs and chevre with arugula; basa fillet with cucumber and fennel salad, braised clams and saffron risotto; chicken with herbed butter and berry jus; and warm chocolate pudding with strawberries. • On Tuesday, February 14, The Great Wall, the Chinese restaurant at The Leela Kempinski, will serve a special Valentine’s Day menu that includes honey glazed chicken; Sichuan vegetarian dumpling; grouper soup; strawberry and mascarpone parfait; and triple chocolate mousse with nougat. Stella, the hotel’s Italian restaurant, will a Valentine’s Day menu featuring leek risotto with oysters and prawns; lobster chowder; ricotta and apricots; and black olive gnocchi with red bell pepper coulis. Aurus, the seaside restaurant and lounge in Juhu, will serve a five-course set meal on Tuesday, February 14. The menu, drawn up by chef Vicky Ratnani, includes sweet corn and shellfish bisque; seared scallops with Ossetra caviar and pickled beets; portobello mushrooms with artichokes, asparagus and yellow tomatoes; seared Scottish salmon and jumbo prawns with olive and chickpea relish in a Chablis and beurre blanc sauce; Creole cottage cheese steak; dark chocolate and strawberry cheesecake; wild strawberry salad; and litchi and coconut gelato. The fifth and final course is tea or coffee that will be served with petite fours.
