Watch A Documentary on a Renowned Miniaturist
Never mind if you can’t distinguish your Pahari from your Rajput. You don’t need to know much about the various schools of miniature art to enjoy director Amit Dutta’s biopic about renowned 18th-century miniaturist Nainsukh. Nainsukh (which incidentally features miniaturist Manish Soni as the titular character) is a rich visual ode to the painter who meticulously documented court life, and was considered something of a rebel for following a more naturalistic approach to the fussy practice. Dutta’s sumptuous film, shot in Jammu and Kashmir, which will be screened today, Wedensday, November 30, at the CSMVS museum has been praised for its “eye-catching colors and exceptional sound design“. The screening will accompany an exhibition of paintings by Nainsukh taken from the museum’s collection.

I think the time-slot, 4.30pm was either unfortunate or just plain silly.
