New Auto-Rickshaw Complaint Service Receives Nearly 250 SMSes In Just Four Days
• Errant Auto-Rickshaw Drivers. India Against Corruption, which launched an SMS campaign against errant auto-rickshaw drivers on Thursday, November 17, received nearly 250 complaints in just four days, about four times the number recorded by the RTO’s toll-free service during the same period. The maximum number of complaints were related to drivers’ refusal to ply (115), followed by meter rigging (50); the areas from which the maximum number of SMSes were received were Andheri (51), followed by Bandra and Borivali (28). To register a complaint, a customer needs to key in a complaint code (for example, REF for refusal), the registration number of the auto-rickshaw and the first four letters of the name of the closest railway station (for example, BAND for BANDRA) and SMS this data to 98690 89898. • US Moves. The American Consulate has reopened at its new Bandra Kurla Complex premises, which has over 40 windows forinterviews and thus comes with the promise of a shorter wait for visa applicants. The BKC office, which consolidates all the US government offices in Mumbai, includes those of the American Centre and the American Library, previously in Marine Lines, and the consulate, formerly in Breach Candy. The American Library is slated to reopen on Monday, December 5 while the American Centre plans to resume its programmes in January 2012. [The Indian Express]
• Staged Encounter. The special investigation team probing the death of 19-year-old college girl Ishrat Jahan in Ahmedabad in 2004 has concluded that she and three other people were killed by the police in a fake encounter. The SIT, whose report states that they were killed before the encounter date of June 15, 2004, has ordered that a fresh FIR be filed against the police officers involved in the shoot-out. hi….i usually take a rickshaw from kandivli west station around 9:15….since the past 3 days i am observing that the rickshaw meters are running fast….since i travel evryday i know that with traffic the fare should b 24 till my desired destination and without traffic upto 22….but since past 3 days i m observing that without traffic also i m being charged 25…..when i argue that your meter is running fast they say ‘kya madam ek rupai k liye jhik jhik kar rahe ho’ or they act innocent and ask ‘kya sacchi mera meter fast hai’….i mean this is too much….already evrywhere the prices r hiking and on top of that if people start playing such tricks where will an ordinary man go…..i kindly request the responsible services to take the necessary action and do the needful as soon as possible…..
In Panvel the minimum fare charged by autorickshaw is rs. 20 when it should be rs.15. On 20th March, 2013 autorickshaw no. Mh06 s286 was charging rs. 30 as minimum charge.
Please take some action against these autowalas in Panvel. It is not affordable to pay rs. 20 as minimum charge. And they never use meters here.
Me and my daughter were waiting for an auto from Andheri to LTT station at 7’10 on 22nd Jan ’13 and none of the auto were stopping. Finally we got one auto (The auto rickshaw number is MH 02QA 0224) and the driver told that there is a block in the Ghatkoper route and we have to go via Sion to reach LTT without any block. Since we needed to reach LTT as soon as possible, we agreed. Then we noticed that his meter was NOT an electronic one. In the google navigation, the route he has chosen to drive was 17 kilometers away from Andheri. So the maximum charge which can be shown in a meter should be between 190 to 195 including 20 mins waiting charge. When we reached the station, he showed us the chart and it was 250 against the meter reading. We asked him why haven’t he installed a new meter and hee told us he don’t have money to install a new meter.
Please take action against this looting mentality of auto drivers and force them to install correct and accurate meter in their auto rickshaws
My complaint is that I have to face this almost daily when i return home from office. I have noted the no. of one such auto rickshaw MHO25VA8280 and he refused to take me as he had to take four passengers which is legally not allowed. Only 3 passengers are allowed but all these auto drivers are violating the law like anything without any fear of law, police etc causing lot of inconvenience to common masses.
I m residing at ghansoli village in new mumbai and i updown home to stn by sharing auto only on daily basis..bt recently increase d ticket fare from six to seven and nw seven to eight they r increased…and d dist is only one km and they carry five people on evry trip after that they charge more money means per head 8Rs. frm commuters.its very high cheating si m requesting to u pls see this matter carefully and help to decrese charge..and i hope it wl happen as eary as possible…9833196639.
Rikshaw No MH02 OA 9361. He asked for the min charges 18 Rs which was just 15. also, he asked for waiting charges because there was some traffic. When i said no, he followed me and argues a lot. I have to run away from that drunk driver.

The Western Railway motormen have gone on strike. So there were hardly any auto’s agreeing. Finally a woman got an auto for Kalina. So me and another woman requested her to drop us to vakola. We sat inside. The autowalla gets out. He returns after 5 mins chewing pan. He starts the auto. We realize he did not turn the meter. It was showing Rs.61. We ask him to turn it. He says he deliberately did not turn it. He asked us how we got into the auto without asking him. He uttered “Get out” and said he had left the auto because he did not agree the 2 of us sharing with the other woman. He said we either get out of the auto or agree to pay 12 bucks. I told him he should have informed us. But he said we should have asked his permission and not that woman. He kept arguing in a rude way.He was showing a lot of attitude. When we told him we were waiting since 30 mins, he said its not his fault. He was very inhumane. I then got off at vakola after paying him Rs.12. I don’t know about the other 2 women. I don’t want any compensation but I would really appreciate if you could punish/fine him appropriately so that he doesn’t do this again. I’d appreciate a feedback on the same. He was thin, dark with a beard and mustache. In his mid 30′s probably.

I generally take auto from midc andheri to kanjurmarg on return from my office. Generally meter shows a reading of 5.50.. on 30th took an auto number MH 03 AA 3413. Meter read at 6.70 and paid Rs.98/- I would like take take it up appropriately and avoid this kind of happening to regular commuters. many are facing this problem .
nine of us returned form Shirdi on Monday morning at 3am. Only 3 rickshaws were standing at the junction which takes us to the connecting Borivali West from Kandiviali East flyover. Among 9 of us 5 were old people and 3 were very young to understand what happened. Moveover the journey was tiring and due to sleepiness none of the 2 rickshaws downed their meter. When asked my folks were informed “Pay accordingly”. I, one of my uncle and young cousin were the last to board the last rick. The 1st two rickshaws were out of our site. We called our cousins in the other rickshaw to know their whereabouts. not reachable we reached our destination and found the 1st two auto drivers were already paid a whooping Rs.95/- each when it should have been merely Rs.30/- The 1st rickshaw dirver shouted out saying ask for Rs95/- and sped away with the 2nd driver following suit. I raised an alarm to the one what we were in in. Sacred he fled. I was so busy sorting this out that i couldnt take their number. But i remember their faces. Sad but true when Aamir Khan is promoting Incredible India “Atitithi Devo Bhava”, we at home are being taken for granted.

how do we know that the authorities have taken a action against the auto rickshaw or driver?
till now i hav put complaint against 3 autorickshaws, i still see them daily with their tampered meters.
Pls take action against the following rickshaw MH02TA1621 for rigged meter. His meter was the fastest I have seen in my life. Instead of the usual 5.10 (with traffic + signals) his meter raced for the Olympics to reach 6.90 (without traffic). The driver was rude & abusive & arrogant & he said this & I quote “Haanh tho meter fast hi hai.. thu kya karega. Jao conplain karo. RTO kuch nahi kar sakte”
Today morning I wanted to go to Thakur Complex from ThakurVillage and the Auto Rick driver refused to come. the auto no. is MH03AA6678. It was at 830 am. Secondly, in the evening from Samata nagar Police Station on the highway to Thakur Village one auto rick driver had charged me excess , he charged me Rs.30/- for a charge of Rs.12/-…the auto rick no. is MH02 VA 58 and he tells me that he is new…and does not know…is it acceptable after reaching the destination to tell this?? If someone could really understand the plight of the common man and the lethargic auto rick drivers be punished.
This auto ricksah fellow no. MH 04 CW 4995 not only refused to ply me from bhayander east phatak to station but on being asked y he wo\nt ply he started giving all the bad abuses on the earth and even threatened to thrash me that to a place where police station is sitatued.y dont the authorities take ne\cessary action against such henious people..
I was getting late for my exam in Bandra (e) starting at 9 am . i requested the autodriver to take me to the exam center (Chetana college) , he simply refused to go there … when i clicked a pic of his auto number plate for filing a camplain he started using unparliamentry language and was about to hit me … i dont understand why the traffic police does not take this matter seriously … please somebody get that autodriver punished for unsocial behaviour and refusal . the auto no. is MH02 VA 8413 . It is really a serious issue for mumbai traffic police and i make a fervent appeal to traffic police , kindly take some action .
I asked an autodriver if he would take me to Powai from Sakinaka. He agreed and as soon as I sat in his auto, a man who I had noticed standing near the auto sat as well with the driver. I wanted to leave the auto, however did not as it was a short distance. When I reached my destination, I mentioned to the autodriver that it was not correct that he had somebody else sat next to him to which the auto driver said “Chalta hai…. peeche aapke baaju mein thodi baita tha”. I said “baaju mein baitne ki baat mat karo… Ye barabar nahi hai”. He tells me “sab barabar hai”. While getting off i told the driver that I would be complaining about him and he said go ahead and complain… lets see what happens”. I would appreciate if somebody could take action against this driver for being so rude and letting an additional person sit next to him on the driver’s seat. It is not correct that a lady gets spoken like this by a driver. The auto number is: MH 03 BA 4444 and the time was 845 in the morning. Thank you.
I got a auto from Dheeraj Upavan Borivali east which is nxt to siddhart nagar,the auto driver’s meter was running fast as being a saturday there wasnt any traffic at all inspite of that till my destination that is Andheri east ICICI Bank which is towards the station the meter reading was 77 when i refused to pay him excess fare he was bold enough to put up a challenge and said now as i stay behind your complex i would see to it that you dont get an auto the next time you want to travel. his badge no was 37461 and auto no MH02VA4144.I WOULD SERIOUSLY LIKE SOMEONE TO TAKE THIS UP THAT GIRLS ARE THREATENED WHEN THEY STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES
I travel regularly from Andheri East to Malad west for work. However the rick I took today had a tampered and fast meter. Despite no traffic while travelling today, his meter reading at the destination was higher than what it is when theres traffic. When I told him that, he started arguing and saying that his rick was passed by RTO and took the entire fare coz I did’nt have change, he refused to take what I asked him to as it was just not fair. I managed to take down his name and badge number. His name is Pramoth Kumar Pande and his badge number is 135687. Please get his meter checked and fine him for the tampering and manipulation. Thanks.
