Antilia Uses 18,230 Litres A Day
• Liquid Assets. Amidst reports that the government could investigate billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s luxury home Antilia for not getting proper permissions from the Maharashtra State Wakf Board before being built, chief minister Prithviraj Chavan has said that the $1 billion behemoth on Altamount Road got 5,65,000 litres of water in April 2011. According to Chavan, the 27 storey building uses around 18,230 litres of water a day, which is enough water for 405 people a day. [Hindustan Times]
• Gay Rights. In a first for an education institution in India, students, faculty and alumni of IIT-Bombay have set up a support centre for LGBT minorities. The group, called Saathi, will cater to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender student population of the institution, which is estimated to number around 700 people. [Indian Express]
• Web Attack. Hackers, from reportedly China, conducted one of the biggest series of attacks uncovered, breaking into the networks of the governments of India, Taiwan, South Korea, the US, Vietnam Canada, the United Nations, and US defence firms. Software security company McAfee, which discovered the attacks, said they believe one “state actor” to be behind the attacks, but declined to name it. [The Times of India]
