Aishwarya at Cannes Look Two
Just as we were celebrating the fact that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had finally gotten her hair in order, she goes and does this. We’re all for mops if you’re under the age of four and your name is Pebbles Flintstone. But here, paired with this Armani Privé half-bustier gown that’s doing unspeakably cruel things to Aish’s hips, we have to say #epicfail. Other things we’d like her stylist to explain: the visible panty line (we’re not entirely sure it’s a panty that’s causing the line but whatever it is, we shouldn’t be seeing it right above her purse, there), the matching blue eyeshadow (see a close-up here), the cuff (is it the new Apple video phone?), and the smushed boob-into-armpit action happening on the right. Not that Rai Bachchan cares. She tells film critic Anupama Chopra that “People don’t get it” and that “in two years, a year, five years or six months, they might get it.”

Fail. It’s a year later and I still don’t get the outfit, and honestly I never will. Wrong, it’s all wrong. I got the link to this article through her most recent wardrobe choices at Cannes and must say she has consistently failed at wearing appropriate attire. Be that as it may, I have to say that I have total respect for her decision to ignore public opinion about her weight gain. She is a new mother and she’s happy and glowing. Let her be when it comes to that, the more pressing issue to be dealt with is the inside of her closet.
nah i stick to my stand, she looks like an awkward unfit star trek extra.
Erm, ok so i am not an advocate for a size 00 but i am a strong believer that you wear clothes that fit your size and body type. She is looking absolutely awful. This dress is designed for someone without hips and definitely a lot thinner than Aishwarya Rai. It does not do anything for her and yes it does make her look rather podgy. Just because it is an Armani outfit does not make it fabulous on everyone ! She needs to either knock off the pounds or change the look ! Have you all noticed the arms? She needs to hit the gym….She is in the movie business and like it or not, its a part of her job to look fit and slim.
haha while this description couldn’t be more spot-on, I do think the podginess makes her look a little more real, a little less plastic.
For one, it’s a corset that you’re seeing. Not a panty line. It’s a full corset that hits her at the waist. I’m not even sure how you called it a half corset when it’s so visibly there. Did you even look up AP’s spring couture line? It’s a very common theme.
Secondly, it’s such a fun look. Aishwarya has always given us graceful. It’s nice to see her in something edgy and playful.
As for her being pudgy, tell me something. Do you tell all the women you meet that if they’re not a size 00 they’re too heavy? She looks fantastic and absolutely healthy. I’m so sick the thin-is-in mentality. Wake up and realize that you’re perpetuating an unhealthy lifestyle. Women like her are who are healthy in their bodies are more beautiful than any stick thin girl that’s thrown at us.
i should hope we’ll never get it! both this VPL-decorated shiny trainwreck and her persistent podginess.
