Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman star in 'Thor'.

ART
Jitish Kallat at Bhau Daji Lad Museum
It might seem a tad odd that you have to hunt around to see the works, but by embedding his pieces into the Bhau Daji Lad museum’s permanent collection, artist Jitish Kallat is hoping to create a “mutual encounter” with the space rather than imposing on the Palladian edifice. His success in doing so is partly what makes this show so fun. As you search to see the works, look out for the following: a half-clock glowing an eerie blue, two vitrines filled with rioting Mumbaikars, and bamboo scaffolding carved with the kind of intricate gargoyles seen on the facade of V. T. station.
When: Until August. Thursday to Tuesday, 10am to 5.30pm; Wednesday closed.
Where: Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, next to Byculla Zoo, 91A Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, Byculla (East). Tel: 6556 0394.

FILM
Thor
In the film based on the eponymous Marvel Comics character, Thor (played by breakout Australian star Chris Hemsworth) is the bulked-up Norse warrior banished to Earth by his father Odin, to prove himself worthy of ascending the throne. Instead, he meets Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), a storm-chasing scientist, whose love “powers Thor’s life lesson in humility and humanity”. Somewhere along the way, Thor must also save his kingdom and Earth from destruction in a convoluted but high-octane plot that works mainly because of “the good-humored direction of Kenneth Branagh, a man with a highbrow history who knows his way around an epic tale”.
When: From Friday, April 29.
Where: At cinemas across the city.
