MUSIC
Control ALT Delete Chapter II at B69

You can pay what you like to attend the second edition of Control ALT Delete at Andheri indie venue B69 this Saturday, when upcoming acts will share the stage with more established names. So along with headliners Split and Sridhar/Thayil, there’s a quartet of fast rising punk acts, The Lightyears Explode, The Riot Peddlers, Forcefield, and Artificial Red, and alternative rock group Clear Blue Sky. But the gig is not free. “We’re against the concept of free”, said event manager Himanshu Vaswani, who added that at the first Control ALT Delete in January, most people paid an average of Rs100 to enter. “We got a couple of 50 paise coins and a couple of Rs500 notes, so it evens out.”
When: Saturday, April 23 at 6pm.
Where: B69, 21 Bhaidas Bhuta Compound, Mogra Lane, off Old Nagardas Road, near Shiv Sagar, Andheri (East). Tel: 99206 64370/93200 38513. See the Facebook page for further details.

Alam Gir Khan at Bombay HUB
The area where concerts are held inside Bombay HUB can accommodate a maximum of about 40 people. While this means only a limited number of listeners can attend the music events, such an intimate audience seems appropriate for a concert by Alam Gir Khan, a singer who belongs to the Patiala gharana of Hindustani classical music. Khan, who trained under his grandfather Sharif Idu and has accompanied sarangi maestro Sultan Khan and tabla superstar Zakir Hussain in concert, will perform in a suitably baithak-like setting at Bombay Hub this Friday, where he will sing Sufi songs, ghazals and Punjabi folk tunes.
When: Friday, April 22 at 7pm.
Where: Bombay HUB, UnLtd India, 4th Floor, Candelar Building, 26 St. John Baptist Road, near Mount Mary Steps, Bandra (West). Tel: 3222 0475. The entrance fee is Rs500.
