MB Recommends: Ballet Flats by Taramay
Even if you swear by heels, you’ll be enchanted by Taramay’s sparkly ballet numbers. These blue suede shoes are part of designer Nayantara Sood’s debut collection (the word Taramay is a combination of her name and birth month) and are currently only available at Ensemble outlets across the city. Sood, who chucked up a job in brand consulting in London to follow her dream, says she always wanted to design shoes and chose flats because “they work for everyone at some point in their day”. After studying at the London College of Fashion, and designing collections for Ritu Kumar and Arjun Saluja, Sood decided to launch a capsule collection of just 10 designs. The shoes are hand-embroidered, leather-lined, and produced in small numbers (only 400 pairs thus far), and Sood says she plans to sell thong and open-toed sandal variations for the summer. Prices start from Rs5,000.
