Koffee With Karan Recap: Hrithik and Suzanne Roshan
Shah Rukh Khan may be his No.1 guy, but Hrithik Roshan is the undisputed runner-up on K-Jo’s list of man-pals. Johar shares an easier, less deferential friendship with Roshan, but when the actor appeared on his show, he only alluded to his rumoured marital problems by addressing a few sugar-coated questions to his wife, Suzanne. Johar’s friendship with the couple looked completely genuine, but how honest were they when quizzed on his couch? In our recap of episodes of season three of Koffee With Karan, we sniff out the bullshit factor, rating it on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being a crock o’ Leprechaun gold, and 1 being honest-to-God sainthood.
K-JO WILL OUT HIMSELF (OR BE OUTED) ON HIS SHOW SOMEDAY
Karan Johar’s sexual preference has been the subject of much discussion. K-Jo, on his part, has decided to never confirm or deny, but also to drop frequent hints that keep the rumour mills churning. It’s alright we suppose to describe Hrithik Roshan as the “most beautiful man in the country”, but you gotta raise an eyebrow when Johar says things like “I do believe behind every successful man, there’s a woman, unless the man is oriented differently”. Johar is also quick to point out the large gay fan bases his BFFs Khan and Roshan enjoy. Roshan was only the second male guest on the show (after SRK) to be asked if he’d pose nude for Playgirl magazine. (He said he’d do it for free; we’re sure his producer-father won’t let him—do it for free that is.) Johar also didn’t seem to mind being called “pretty” by Hrithik or being picked by Suzanne as the person she’d describe as a “dazzling diva”, and even said that it might just win her the coffee hamper. (It did.)
HRITHIK AND SUZANNE ARE THE WORLD’S HAPPIEST COUPLE
It would have been far too much to expect Karan Johar to ask Hrithik and Suzanne Roshan about Hrithik’s alleged affair with Barbara Mori. Johar did however allude to it by asking Suzanne whether it was tough being married to a movie star. In the “conservative” world, Johar said, wives worry about other women throwing themselves at their husbands. Suzanne, who seemed to be inflicted by a case of the giggles to a level previously only seen in Aishwarya Rai, said that the only time she felt insecure was when she was trying to lose her post-delivery weight, and that having a husband so hot was a “driving force for the spouse to look her best”. Roshan tried to feign humility (more on that later) while Suzanne seemed determined to point out that no matter what happens, she has dibs on his most prized assets. “There are some things which are not being exposed there,” she told Johar while talking about a topless photo of Hrithik on the cover of Filmfare. When asked which of Hrithik’s buttons she presses the most (a follow-up question to a vague one about who controls the “remote” in their relationship), she quipped “You wouldn’t want to know”. And to reaffirm her confidence in their marriage, when asked to name the actress with whom Hrithik shares the best chemistry, she named the only two heroines he’s been rumoured to have had affairs with: Kareena Kapoor and Barbara Mori (who incidentally Hrithik chose as his “sexiest co-star”). If the gossip rags are true, then Suzanne might just be as good an actor as her husband.
HRITHIK ROSHAN IS AS BORING AS SHAH RUKH KHAN
If you’re a hopeless cynic, you might have been unconvinced by Hrithik and Suzanne’s display of togetherness, but the couple did seem to share a genuine friendship with former foe SRK and his wife Gauri. (In a montage of interviews with other stars, Shah Rukh said that he “truly believes” that Hrithik is “the biggest star the world will ever see”.) The reason they bond so well could be that Hrithik and Shah Rukh are annoyingly similar. Like SRK, Hrithik claims that he can’t tell when women hit on him, something that sounded so fake that not even Johar or Suzanne could listen to it with a straight face. Suzanne said that SRK and Hrithik were the “presidents” of this club of “men who put on this act” while Johar was so exasperated that he resorted to rhetoric and said “Are we a world full of lesbians?” Hrithik also came close to competing with Shah Rukh in the feigned humility stakes by saying that he doesn’t think his performance in Guzaarish is the “work of a great actor” and that he’s on “a personal mission to find out my extreme potential” when asked about competition.
FOR HRITHIK ROSHAN, MOVIES ARE THE SAME AS CHILDREN
The only parts of the episode where Hrithik Roshan seemed to let his guard down was when discussing his films. When Johar asked him about how he dealt with commercial failures of his last two releases, Kites and Guzaarish, Roshan said that “there is a way to budget such films”, pretty much admitting to their overblown production costs. And when Johar asked him about Salman Khan’s reported criticism of Guzaarish, he acknowledged that he was hurt by the comments. “If it was personal, I’d laugh it off,” said Roshan. “Because I know Salman only has love for me in his heart. But this was my baby. If someone talks about my sons or my films, my babies are not strong enough to protect themselves, I have to stand up for them.” Yes, Hrithik; films are people too. And though “it’s all good” with Salman now, Hrithik did suggest that the latter suffers from a persecution complex. “Everyone loves him but he feels everyone is conspiring against him,” said Roshan, when asked what he would change about a set of actors if he had superhero powers. “I’d take his victim syndrome away.”

I agree Hrithik is very good looking and handsome guy but at the same time suzzane is very beautiful girl. Any wife will feel insecure if the hubby is so handsome and specially if he is an actor . Suzzane is not an actress so but obvious there is a difference between her and him.

I very recently started watching Hrithik’s movies and like his acting very much. Everyone has good and bad days and in an actor’s life, remember, acting out a scene can also bring you close to believing you are the person you are impersonating. Their emotions must be so frayed by their work and there are always scumbags around who strive to bring them down. I’ve read a lot of Hrithik’s and Suzanne’s articles and I must say, they are a couple worth emulating instead of derogating. Dear Hrithik and Suzanne, may God bless you and your family and may you both remain the type of people God made you, good human beings [so very rare to find them in this world]. Every human being has the potential to err, but very few have the potential to rise above it. I, for one, wish both of you all the very best and hope you will always stay ‘loving and close to each other’. God bless you and keep you happy.

very boring episode.ritik used to be so fun on the couch in previous seasons but in this episode,his basturd wife entirly destroyed the show.her horrible comments and babbling,laughriots were way annoying.

I was once a big fan of Hrithik… Sigh, its not the same anymore… while Hrithik is an amazing actor on-screen, he should stop acting off screen… No-one buys the i don’t observe a hot girl hitting on me crap he dished out… Either he is too foolish or he thinks the audience is.. I for one think people like celebs who if not completely open, are at least not fake.. and alas Hrithik has turned into one…
