Music For The Tilted Generation

Bombay Bassment.
You’ll get four acts instead of just one if you visit Blue Frog on Wednesday or Thursday this week, when the club will host The Tilt, a two-day music festival co-organised by Stuart D’Costa, the bassist of popular Mumbai band Something Relevant. The best thing about The Tilt is that it’s possible to watch it for free. The performances start at 7.30pm, when entrance to Blue Frog is free (the charge is applicable from 9pm). The line-up includes jazz guitarist Max Clouth and techno DJ Glitterbug both from Germany, and rock band Nuove Tribu Zulu from Italy as well as five Mumbai acts, including alternative rock group Blakc, funk rock outfit The Pulp Society, and of course, Something Relevant. The festival will close with the latest edition of Axetortion, the series of concerts organised by Dream Out Loud’s Chandresh Kudwa that showcases the skills of various city-based guitarists. This time around, Pozy Dhar of Tough On Tobacco and Ravi Iyer of Para Vayu get to show off their shredding chops. But the act we’re looking forward to seeing the most is hip hop quartet Bombay Bassment. The band, which comprises rapper Bob Omulo, drummer Levin Mendes, bassist Ruell Barretto and DJ Chandrashekhar “Chandu” Kunder, has been consistently impressing audiences with their on-stage energy and party-starting vibe at their performances at the Stupid Ditties album launch at Bonobo in November, and at NH7 Weekender in Pune earlier this month. See thetilt.in for the schedule.
