Three Reasons To Watch Shaa’ir + Func Tonight
Even if you’ve seen Shaai’r + Func a dozen times before, we recommend making your way to the electro-pop act’s gig at Blue Frog tonight. Here are three good reasons to be there:
• They will launch and play tunes from their stellar third album Mantis. Songs, such as “Love Love Love” and “My Roots” have been performed live many times but the final album versions are considerably different from what you may have heard at the band’s last concert in Mumbai in March.
• The gig will feature several big-name guest artists: Pentagram vocalist Vishal Dadlani (who will take on Radiohead’s “15 Step”!), S+F’s electro-pop counterparts Sridhar/Thayil (who will add their own twist to “Love, Love, Love”), Scribe frontman Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy and Mayur Narvekar of the Bandish Projekt.
• Since Mantis has been released on Blue Frog’s record label, entry to the club is free tonight. (Which means it’s likely to be more packed than usual so get there early).
