Food Scoops: California Pizza Kitchen Opening in BKC

We hear that JSM Corporation, the guys who own nightclub Shiro and the franchise to Hard Rock Cafe here, are bringing in American chain California Pizza Kitchen to Mumbai (the Obamas, incidentally, are big fans). Known for its gourmet pizzas (roasted artichoke and spinach, pear and gorgonzola, smoked bacon and avocado to name a few) and California-inspired American fare (think hefty salads and pastas), CPK will open in Bandra-Kurla Complex in the first week of September. The plan is to open 15 outlets across India over five years, though there is no word on which city will be next. We also hear that JSM will bring in Trader Vic’s, a Polynesian-themed bar and restaurant with outlets in London, Los Angeles, and Dubai among many others, to India either at the end of this year or early 2011. JSM will also open Shiro in New Delhi in the first week of September.

Oooooo. Big fan of CPK. Survived on it my first 6 months in Shanghai before they closed down.
Are they flying the ingredients in from Italia? It always had the sweetest tasting tomato… allegedly fresh from the motherland.
Looking forward to the rekindling…!
